New Year / New You

01/01/2021

A new year is dawning. Are you ready to let go of what went wrong last year and create a better new year?

I hope you spent some time in December evaluating your year.

Imagine EVERYTHING you've ever been taught is wrong. What would you do differently?

Interesting thought, isn't it?  Now let's do it!

We often start out with high hopes, great resolutions and motivation to get things done. This year can be different, but will it? It certainly can be the best one we've ever had, the big challenge is to make it that way.

January 1st is our clean slate; time to set new goals and leave old habits behind. I truly believe in New Year resolutions. You just need to rename it; it's called goal setting.

So when you're setting goals think small and achievable. What is a goal you can set this week and know that you will get it done? Carve out 2-4 hours in your week and set a goal, something you have been procrastinating on (like writing your blog), and just do it. When you have a positive outcome to your goal you will most likely be in a more positive mindset to accomplish others.

If you know what your long term goal is write it down. Give yourself a realistic timeline and then reverse engineer it. Figure out what you need to do month by month, week by week, day by day to get there. If you break your big goal down into 'chunks' it will be easier to accomplish in the end.

Even if your goal is as simple as "I am going to be nicer to people." You need to break it down. Having the energy to be nice to others comes from a place of being kind to yourself and doing things that replenish your own energy and needs. When you feel fulfilled and are kind to yourself you will most likely be kind to others too.

Wishing you the best year ever...
