Finding Balance

03/01/2020

When you are living with balance in your life, you are living with peace and harmony every day. Balance comes in physical forms, emotional forms, and a spiritual form. Being in balance means something different to everyone.

Maintaining a balanced life is becoming increasingly more important for your personal health and well-being in a fast-paced, modern world. Sustaining a balanced diet, along-side personal fitness, can help improve and stabilize overall health and well-being.

Looking at your life as it is will be the first step in redefining yourself. Do you feel physically exhausted, mentally stagnant or find yourself without close relationships? Would you call yourself a workaholic? Do you feel a lack of spiritual alignment? If you answered yes to any of these questions, your life is probably out of balance.

Ok, so what does this actually look like? You start by setting goals. Set goals in every area of your life. Nothing happens if you don't have an action plan in place. It's great to want a better or different life but what are you actively doing to change things?

Your goals should cover:

* Relationships

* Physical being

* Spiritual alignment

* Mental development

* Your job

* Your finances

Assess your life as it is now. Make a conscious decision to become more balanced. Achieving balance allows us to reach our goals and our purpose in life while creating less stress. A conscious decision to change may now be in order.

Here are some things to think about:

* Take care of and nurture yourself. You cannot accomplish anything if you are unhealthy.

* Know what your priorities are. Balance does not entail cramming in every activity possible.

* Create an efficient mindset. Be organized and plan ahead.

* Expect the unexpected.

* Maintain a positive mental attitude.

* Play to your strengths.

* Prioritize your time.

* Know what gets you down and create an action plan to come out of it.

* Set aside some personal time.

* Have set work hours, and stick to them.

* Find time for your finances.

* Make your work space work for you.

You should try to set aside time daily to reflect. This can be 10 - 15 minutes. No TV, no phone, just you and your notepad.

Set realistic goals in all areas of your life and write them down. Ease into the changes and keep in mind your decisions are not set in concrete. If something isn't working be willing to change.

Things will not change overnight. Remind yourself that your ultimate goal is balance.
